12 Imam Names and Biography
These are the following names of 12 imams and their biography:
1 Imam Ali (a.s)
Hazrat Ali (RA) was from the tribe of Quraish and the Bani Hashim family in Makah. On Friday,
the 13th of Rajab 23 BH, he was born in the Holy Kabah in Mecca. He (RA) was the son of Hazrat Abu Talib (RA),
the uncle of the Holy Prophet (SAW), who had fed and raised Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
Hazrat Ali (RA) was the first young person to accept Islam. He did so when he was only 10 years old.
His mother, Fatima bint-e Asad, was also a noblewoman from the Bani Hashim tribe.
The Prophet (PBUH) treated her as if she were his own mother. Ibn-e-Muslim, one of the rebels,
killed Hazrat Ali (RA) with a poisoned sword while he was praying in the mosque on the 19th of Ramadan, 40 AH.
2 Imam Hassan (a.s)
Imam Hassan (a.s.) was the son of Fatima bint-e Asad, who was the daughter of Muhammad,
the Lord of Messengers. (Al- Hasan’s) kunya was Abu Muhammad. He was born in Medina three years
after the hijra, on the night of the middle day of Ramadan (624). Many early sources say that one of his wives,
Jadah bint al-Ash’ath, worked with Mu’wiyah to poison him and kill him.
3 Imam Hussain (a.s)
12 Imam
Biography Husayn (as), the second son of Fatima (sa) and ‘Ali (as),
was born on Shabaan 3, 4 Hijri (10.1.626 AD) When he was born,
the Holy Prophet was told that his second grandson had been born.
When he got to his daughter’s house,
he held the baby in his arms and repeated the Azan and Iqamah in his ears.
Imam Husayn (as) saved Islam from extinction by making a sacrifice at the
right time to show the difference between truth and falsehood,
good and evil, and right and wrong.
After this event in Karbala’ in 61 Hijri, no one inside or outside of Islam
dared to question the truth of the Holy Qur’an or try to change its meanings. He died on October 10, 680,
on the 10th of Muharram, also known as the Day of Ashura (aged 54).
4 Imam Zain Ul Abideen (a.s)
Imam Hussain’s son, Imam Ali Zain-al-Abideen,
became the fourth Imam after Imam Hussain (a.s). (a.s.).
His mother was the Persian princess Bibi Shahar Bano,
who was the daughter of King Yazd Gard II.
During the caliphate of Imam Ali (a.s.) in 31 A.H.,
Imam Ali (a.s.)freed her and married her to Imam Hussain (a.s.).
From this marriage came Imam Zain-al-Abideen.
She died, though, just 10 days after Imam Sajjad was born (a.s.).
He was poisoned and died in Madina in 94 or 95 A.H.
He is buried at Baqi near his uncle Hasan (a.s.).
5 Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s)
Muhammad Ibn ‘Ali al-Baqir (as) was born in Madina on the 1st of Rajab in the year 57 Hijri.
He died in Madina on the 7th of Zilhijja in the year 114 Hijri, on January 31, 733, when he
was 57 years old. The time frame of about 19 years. He died on July 7, 114 AH/733 CE,
after the Abbasid Caliph Hisham poisoned him.12 Imam Names and Biography
6 Imam Ja’far Ibn Muhammad As-Sadiq (as)
The 6th Imam, Ja’far Ibn Muhammad As-Sadiq (as), was born in Madinah on 17 Rabiul Awwal 83 Hijri (23.4.702 AD).
Died in Madinah on Shawwal 15, 148 Hijri (7.12.765) when he was 63 years old.
Approximately 34 years.
7 Imam Musa Kazim (a.s)
Imam Musa al-Kadhim was born on September 7, 128 AH (745 CE) in Madinah in the Hejaz region of the Arabian Peninsula.
He died on the 25th of Rajab, 183 AH/7991 CE after Harun al-Rashid gave him poison.
Period of about 33 years.
8 Imam Ali Raza (a.s)
Imam Ali ar-Riza (a.s.) spent almost 35 years being cared for by his father.
He was born in Medina. Zi-Qadah 11, or Zil-Hijjah, or Rabi’ul-Awwal, in the Hijri year 148 or 153.
He died on Friday or Monday, near the end of the month of Safar,
or the 17th of Safar, or Ramzan 21, or Jamadi-al-Awwal 18,
or Zil-Qadah 23, or the end of Zil-Qadah, in the year 202, 203, or 206.Biography
9 Imam Muhammad Taqi (a.s)
Imam Muhammad Taqi (as) was born in Madina on the 10th of Rajab, 195 a.h.
His father was 45 years old when Imam Muhammad Taqi (as) was born. Up until that point,
Imam ‘Ali Ridha (as) had always been teased about not having any children. When the 9th Imam was born,
Imam ‘Ali Ridha’s (as) brother was upset that he wouldn’t get to inherit any of the Imam’s property.
Out of jealousy, he spread a rumor that Imam ‘Ali Ridha (as) wasn’t the father.
He was shown to be wrong in the end by someone who could tell who his parents were.
He died on 29th Dhulqa’da 220 a.h. Baghdad. Buried in Kadhmain.
10 Imam Naqi (a.s)
imam muhammad naqi (as) born in Madina 5th Rajab 214 Hijri ( 8.9.829 AD).
Died in Samarrah, Iraq, on July 1, 868, when he was 40 years old.
The time span of about 34 years. Mu’tasim Billah Abbasi killed his father,
Imam Muhammad Taqi (as), in Baghdad by giving him poison.
11 Imam Hassan Al Askri (a.s)
Imam Hassan bin Ali Al-Askari (AS) born In Madina,
on 8th Rabi’uth Thani 232 AH (846 A.D).
The Holy Imam Hasan al-Askari spent the first 22 years
of his life under the care of his father,
Imam Ali al-Hadi (an Naqi). After his father was killed,
he became the Imam who was appointed by God and by the previous Imams.
He died in Samarah on May 8, 260 A.H. (873 A.D.),
when he was 28 years old. He was buried there. Biography
12 Imam AL-Mahdi (a.s)
Hazrat Imam Al-Mahdi (a.s.) is the twelfth and last of the Purified Imams (a.s.) and the divine successors.
